Philip Blenkinsop

Since arriving in Southeast Asia in 1989, Philip Blenkinsop has built a fiercely personal record of the region. His photographs confront forgotten conflicts and injustice, bringing viewers close to communities too often kept outside the frame. A founding member of NOOR, he previously worked with Agence VU.

His reporting on Laos earned first prize in World Press Photo’s 2004 People in the News category. He is also a three-time Visa d’Or recipient. Books including The Cars That Ate Bangkok and Extreme Asie extend his distinctive vision. Raw, intimate and deeply empathetic, his work asks us to look beyond the headline and recognise the people within it.
